WEST 4025 - Readings in Multiethnic Literature

Introduces students to the various ways authors have engaged with the question of identity formation in respect to social categories such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual or religious orientation, disability, and age, etc. With particular attention to issues of culture, language, nation, history, and memory, this course will consider the ways in which authors from various backgrounds have used their writing to position themselves as subjects within, and engage in a dialogue with, both their own communities and within dominant society. Topic varies by semester and instructor. Approved for Compass Curriculum Writing Intensive requirement; and can serve as a WEST capstone-flagged course. Prer., WEST 1010.
