Academic Advising
The Mission of Academic Advising is “partnering with students to successfully navigate college.” Advisors are available to help students:
- Explore and navigate their educational goals and degree requirements
- Connect them to campus resources to foster success
- Understand UCCS, its programs, academic requirements and policies
- Develop strategies for success in college
Students can schedule an appointment with their assigned advisor through Starfish or by contacting the Academic Advising front desk. Academic Advising also offers drop-in advising on Wednesdays from 1:00p.m. - 4:30p.m. in Main Hall 208. Drop-in meetings are first-come, first-served, and are 15-minute meetings. Please visit the Academic Advising website for more information.
Degree Audit
Degree audits are available to inform students of their academic progress, requirements met, and requirements remaining for both their departmental major and their college. Students should review their degree audit regularly and refer to it when registering for courses every semester. Students should be familiar with their degree audit when seeking academic advising. Students can access their degree audit through the MyUCCS portal.
Orientation
Orientation programs are held preceding each term to acquaint new students with UCCS academic programs, out-of-class activities, and campus services. Academic advising, registration for classes, and an introduction to campus life constitute the main orientation activities. Newly admitted undergraduate students are required to attend an orientation session before being permitted to register for classes. For more information, please visit the Orientation website.
Math Placement Testing Information
Starting in Fall 2019, placement into a UCCS Math Course will be based on your ACT or SAT score. For questions, or to register for an ACCUPLACER Math Placement Test, contact mpt@uccs.edu.
