The Bachelor of Innovation degree is not simply career preparation; it engages and imparts the skills of creative and innovative thinking. The experiential learning aspects of the curriculum involve students directly in the interdisciplinary nature of innovation projects working with local organizations and companies as an integral part of the program. Innovation is an attitude, a state of mind, a creative process, and also a specific task or action.
BI Music students should decide on a general focus depending on their areas of interest and expertise such as music business and entrepreneurship or music technology and work with the BI Music faculty adviser in honing their curriculum in the elective pool, private lessons and recitals.
BI Music students may also audition to declare a primary focus in line with the VAPA BA Music tracks, Creative Music Performance or Composition / Sound Design. Students who are accepted into these tracks must work closely with the music faculty advisers of their chosen track to take the correct courses in the elective pool, private lessons and recitals.
Private Lessons are optional (electives). However, if a BI student wishes to align as a performance or composition major, they should follow private instruction and recital criteria of those VAPA BA tracks.
