Sustainability Minor


Sustainability is an interdisciplinary minor with courses offered from departments and colleges across campus. Many courses emphasize experiential, project-based and service learning. The minor is designed to prepare students for the challenges and obligations of the 21st century, specifically by contributing to UCCS and local organizations on issues relating to the environment and social equity, promoting economic vitality, and recognizing civic responsibilities both at home and abroad.

Sustainable Minor Requirements:

  • 18 credits are required, including at least 9 upper division, and at least 9 hours must be taken at UCCS.
  • Coursework must include at least one course from each of the three perspectives of environment, equity, and economy.
  • A maximum of nine credits can apply towards both the Sustainable minor and your major.
  • A minimum grade of C (2.0) must be received for any course to count towards the completion of the minor. 
  • Note that some of the listed courses include prerequisite courses and/or may not be offered every semester.
  • Special topics courses, internships, independent studies or other courses may fulfill requirements for the Sustainability minor, but require approval by the Director of the minor.
