Geology Minor

This minor is designed to improve students’ understanding of geologic processes and how these processes fit into environmental issues. The program takes advantage of the unique natural setting of Colorado to allow students to deepen and expand their appreciation of nearly two billion years of local geologic history. The emphasis of the minor is the understanding of geologic processes that have shaped Colorado. The minor requires a total of 19-20 credit hours, to vary based on the student’s elective selection.

Course Requirements: 19-20 credits
Core 1 (8 credits)
All courses in Core 1 are required, and must be completed before beginning Core 2. Core 2 (8 credits)
All courses in Core 2 are required, and must be completed before the required 3000-level or higher elective course. Elective Course (3-4 credits)
The elective course will be taken based on the student’s interest, and may vary in credit hours. Cores 1 and 2 must be completed before the upper-division elective course. |
