CJ 5960 - Homeland Security and Emergency Management Administration

A study of homeland security and emergency management apparatus. This class offers a detailed understanding of all critical components that comprise the homeland security apparatus in the United States and how it responds to emergencies. Students will gain understanding in the Stafford Act, the National Response Framework, Title X, Title XIV, Title 32, and Amendment X and State Sovereignty. Understanding of the policy, strategy, structure, and operations of the Federal agencies involved in homeland security as well as knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with relevant Federal laws, regulations, and guidance. Students will gain familiarity with the structure and terminology of various rules and regulations in the different levels of government in the U.S. Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to search for and find appropriate rules or regulations as well as to understand how to apply appropriate rules and regulations to guide the direction of work or make decisions.
